Built entirely from solid steel, this Multirip is designed to endure the toughest sawmill
environments. It features a passage of 285 mm high by 800 mm wide, offering a cutting height of
260 mm, and a capacity of 250 kW per arbor. For this customer, the machine was delivered at 90
kW per arbor, since their production does not require higher feed speeds. Running comfortably at
30 metres per minute — or 20 metres per minute when cutting at 240 mm high — the Multirip
260 still has the ability in standard form to reach an impressive 100 metres per minute. With space
for up to 12 blades per arbor, fully adjustable to suit different cutting patterns, and a feed system
consisting of four hydraulically driven press-down rollers and six driven bottom rollers powered
by a 7.5 kW geared motor, this is a serious machine for serious timber.
Curve Sawing Advantage
The Multirip 260 is equipped with a curve sawing unit, which has already delivered excellent
results in practice. By following the natural curve of the log instead of cutting straight, the
customer has achieved an impressive 2–2.5% higher recovery rate — a significant gain in efficiency
and value.
Why It Matters
This project demonstrates what Nukor can offer sawmillers: custom-built, heavy-duty machinery
designed for their exact needs. Even at reduced capacity, the Multirip 260 is performing
exceptionally well, proving that flexibility and smart engineering deliver real-world benefits.
And the Multirip 260 is just one example of the growing capability within Nukor’s in-house
engineering department. Recent builds include the NDA160 and NDA200 multirip models — both
designed to handle large timber sections with precision and reliability.
The NDA160 can multi-rip timber up to 500 mm wide and 160 mm high (165 mm maximum
cutting height), while the NDA200 handles up to 500 mm wide and 200 mm high (215 mm
maximum cutting height). Each is built with custom roller configurations to suit specific production
requirements, delivering the same robust design and attention to detail Nukor is known for.
Beyond multirip saws, Nukor’s workshop continues to expand its engineering range, developing
custom infeeding systems, conveyor extensions, and even a printing head system for wood
marking using a REA printing head — showing that whether it’s heavy-duty cutting or precision
finishing, they’re equipped to build machinery that performs.

Boards are received onto the grading line form a highspeed planer. The boards are visually check for any defects before entering the scanning
zone. A pneumatic waste gate is used to reject any damaged boards. The boards are then fed by a Nukor piece feeder to single boards out for Curve scanning and Viscan (strength grading) . There after the boards pass through the Microtec Goldeneye (3D laser, Scattering laser, colour, and Xray) scanner. After boards are graded the final step is to pass through the automatic linear printer unit (ReaJet and Nukor design) , which prints the customer label and lumber grade.
