Celebrating 65 years in style: Welcome to the new Nukor House

In January 2025, the Nukor Group will celebrate its 65th anniversary and open the doors to a fresh chapter in its storied history. It has relocated to its new headquarters in Edenvale, Johannesburg.

The relocation carries special historical significance for the company. In 1968, Nukor marked a transformative moment when it moved into its first Nukor House in the town centre, its headquarters for over five decades.

The final months of 2024 have been a whirlwind for the Nukor team as they prepared to move into a modern facility designed to meet the needs of a diverse and growing customer base. The premises in Edenvale continue the tradition of growth and progress that has defined Nukor’s legacy since its founding.

Farewell to the old building and forward to the New Nukor House in Eastleigh, Edenvale.

“This move and year represent incredible milestones for us,” says Stephanie Kruger, Nukor’s Marketing and Communication Manager. “It’s a tribute to the unwavering support of our customers and supplier partners”. Stephanie says the new location was strategically selected to ensure convenience and safety for everyone. It is close to Oliver Tambo International Airport and all main road routes out of Johannesburg.

“We are making it as convenient as possible for clients across Africa to do business with us”. Nukor House is designed with sustainability in mind. “We are largely off the grid and primarily powered by solar energy, significantly reducing our carbon footprint. This approach aligns with our commitment to environmental responsibility and energy efficiency”. Why the move? “Our old premises served us well, however, as the business expanded rapidly, the demand for additional stock and machinery storage outgrew the available space. Eventually, even the showroom had to be repurposed for storage to accommodate operational needs”, she explains.

The new location consolidates Nukor’s sawmilling, woodworking, agriculture and forestry branches under one roof. The centralized layout allows seamless collaboration between departments, enabling the team to address customer needs more effectively.

It has tripled the warehouse space and expanded the capacity of the in-house engineering teams. Stephanie says the showroom is an essential visit for sawmillers, furniture and kitchen manufacturers and woodworkers. The showroom will feature a range of machinery, including Fravol edgebanders, Casadei joinery machines, CNC machines and Fagus spark detection systems integrated into centralized dust extraction units. Lucas Mill and Woodlands Sawmilling mobile sawing machines and agricultural machinery will be on show. Most of these machines will be operational, allowing customers to see their capabilities. The area has a dedicated zone for specialized smaller equipment and tooling. This includes saw blades, rollers, planer blades, moisture meters, lasers, cutter blocks, turnaround knives, and spare parts. Samples of the profiles will be displayed to assist customers to visualise the possibilities and solutions offered.

Stephanie concludes, “While our address is changing, our commitment to quality service remains stronger than ever. We warmly invite you to visit our new premises from January 2025, enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee or tea and discuss how we can support your business needs”.
