Bruks Conveyors

Chain Conveyors
For feeding of roundwood chippers, a chain conveyor is used. The logs are transported on a deck consisting of six parallel chains. This is a very sturdy and wear-resistant design suitable for most operating conditions.

Screw Conveyors
These conveyors are used where tight and sturdy transport is required for, e.g., material discharged from chippers or mills, and also when transport is steep and/or transfer to other means of transportation is needed.
The trough is made of U-shaped steel plate covered with a lock. The conveyor screw is welded to a center shaft with exchangeable shaft ends running in double spherical roller bearings.

Vibrating Conveyors
Our modular vibrating conveyors offer an extremely efficient, multi-functional method of conveying and processing different-sized bulk materials, including larger and longer pieces of processed wood. Their design ensures consistently high conveying speeds even under high loads.

Description

The infeed of raw material and outfeed of processed material represent two of the most important aspects of plants, as their overall capacity always depends on the material flow. To be able to cope with this task, optimal conveyors are needed.

Belt Conveyors
BRUKS makes two kinds of trough belt conveyors:
Simple belt conveyors for transport of trim-ends, oversize from screens or waste; and heavy-duty belt conveyors with integrated, flexible loading sections for feeding chippers.

Chain Conveyors

STRONG, WEAR-RESISTANT CHAINS DELIVER OPTIMUM CONVEYING SOLUTIONS

Our Bruks Klöckner range of drag-chain conveyors offer a robust, effective method of conveying some of the industry’s hardest-to-handle products, such as stringy materials like unsorted bark. They are an optimum solution for the totally-enclosed transport of materials in applications with limited space.

Bruks Chain Conveyor

Bruks’ drag-chain conveyors employ a heavy-duty chain and paddle transport arrangement that effectively traps and drags material between the paddles along the length of the conveyor to its end destination.

The chains are constructed from high-grade welded steel and have a mechanical or hydraulic tensioning system that ensures they remain taught and effective. When conveying pellets, the paddles are fitted with plastic strips to avoid any material degradation.

Owing to the strength and wear-resistance of our chains, these conveyors deliver high reliability, often making them a system of choice for power and pellet plants, saw mills, the panel board and pulp and paper industries.

Bruks conveyors have low operational costs and are designed to meet customer applications from single-line conveyors with a 600mm width to heavy-duty conveyors with dual-chains up to a 2,000mm width.

A key feature of the Bruks chain conveyor is the high angle of operation it can achieve. Loading the conveyor occurs at low angles, horizontal is optimal, with the chain and paddles turning upwards in a transition piece with easily replaceable wear strips. Angles, as high as 45 degrees, are used to shorten the horizontal distances between the loading and discharge points.

UPPER AND LOWER TROUGH CONVEYING

To meet the various granularity properties of the material being conveyed, our drag-chain conveyors are designed to offer two handling sections; one in the upper part of the trough, the other in the lower. The common rectangular frame carries both the upper and lower sections of chains and paddles.

More granular materials, such as pellets, sawdust, wood chips, fall through the upper chain area to the lower section. But stringier materials, such as bark, remain in the upper section, so they are unable to block the spaces between the chains or becoming tangled in the paddles.

Segregation of material prevents unnecessary downtime and ensures that the lower trough is used more frequently. This also offers long-term maintenance advantages as it is significantly easier to replace the base wear plate, rather than the internal one within the conveyor.

Screw Conveyors

TOTALLY ENCLOSED, SPILLAGE-FREE CONVEYING SYSTEMS

Our screw conveyors can be delivered as stand-alone units, as part of complete bulk material handling systems or for transportation of processed wood materials.

Their totally-enclosed design delivers an environmentally-friendly profile, ensuring that dust emissions and spillage are eliminated when handling all materials. Our screw conveyors also have low energy consumption demands, further adding to their environmental credentials.

BRUKS SCREW (AUGER) CONVEYOR

The Bruks screw (auger) conveyor has been specially designed for the continuous, smooth transportation of processed wood materials. The units are particularly well suited for limited spaces requiring the heavy duty transport of material discharged from chippers or mills, such as wood chips, wood pellets, sawdust and shredded bark. Bruks’ screw conveyors meet the needs of numerous applications and are available in a wide range of capacities. Screw diameter and angle of incline, up to 45 degrees, can also be tailored to suit operational requirements.

LONG, COST-EFFECTIVE SERVICE LIFE

Our screws are commonly used in the discharge area of chippers, smoothing surges that naturally occur due to irregular feeding conditions. A hopper over the screw inlet acts as a surge space, and the volumetric flow of the screw limits the discharge to the correct and steady rate. Screws also collect the sawdust that falls between the feed rollers in waste wood chippers, passing it to the back of the chipper and depositing the sawdust into the collection conveyor, keeping the infeed area free of spillage and mess.

Their intended purpose dictates their specifications such as diameter and flight thickness. All Bruks’ screw conveyors are designed to offer a long service life and the easy replacement of wear parts reduces maintenance requirements to a minimum.

Siwertell screw conveyors

SIWERTELL SCREW CONVEYING SYSTEMS

Our totally-enclosed screw conveyors are ideal for handling powdery, dusty dry bulk materials, especially where scrupulously clean operations are essential. They are lightweight with very small physical footprint, and are available in several diameter sizes to accommodate a wide range of capacities and applications. Siwertell screw conveyors are used in bulk handling ports, terminals, and other shore-based facilities.

Siwertell screw conveyors

A vertical screw conveyor can elevate material up to 40m. Combining multiple conveyors in a series allows material to be raised to any required height. The same principle holds for horizontal conveyors. Very high capacity operations are achieved by installing two or more screw conveyors alongside each other, served by the same loading box. Vertical screw conveyors require much less space than a bucket elevator, making them ideal when space is limited. The highest capacity for a single vertical screw conveyor is 1,500t/h. Some terminals have complex conveying needs. Siwertell horizontal conveyors can be inclined and are reversible. They can be supplied with multiple inlets and outlets, allowing very flexible cargo distribution arrangements.

READ CUSTOMER CASE

Our screw conveyors can handle materials such as cement, lime, ash, clinker, fertilizer, coal, soya beans, grain, gypsum, the screws are continuously improved and we develop different kinds of coatings to prolong the service life of the screw. Every screw is tested and balanced before delivery from our factory to ensure that it arrives in perfect condition.

Our calculations of the new design of a screw conveyor’s long life expectancy have been proven by our customers and the screw with the latest design lasts about two and half to three times longer than previous versions.

The screw conveyors are designed for dust free material transport and are suitable for applications in any kind of indoors and outdoors environment. From small cement and grain dimensions up to enormous coal and clinker screws, we can offer a wide range of screw sizes.

Vibrating Conveyors

VIBRATING CONVEYORS ENSURE EFFICIENT, MULTI-FUNCTIONAL MATERIAL HANDLING

Our modular vibrating conveyors offer an extremely efficient, multi-functional method of conveying and processing different-sized bulk materials, including larger and longer pieces of processed wood. Their design ensures consistently high conveying speeds even under high loads.

Bruks vibrating conveyor

Vibrating conveyors can form part of complex processing facilities and are easily customized to meet varying needs. They are ideally paired with our Bruks screening systems. Integral screens are often incorporated into a conveying system and can efficiently separate over-sized or fine particles during material transfer. In some cases they eliminate the need for separate screening units entirely.

Vibrating conveyors are particularly popular for use with horizontal drum chippers and can be specified for use with gravity-fed versions. They can also be fitted with a built-in metal detector or heating rods for operation in extremely cold environments.

LONG AND SHORT WOOD HANDLED WITH EASE

Most often used in sawmills, pulp and board mills as well as in bio-fuel applications, Bruks’ vibrating conveyors are available in a light, medium and heavy-duty design. They can easily accommodate long and short wood such as logs, slabs, edgings, trim-ends, chips, sawdust and bark, and can transport materials in parallel without mixing them.

TAILORED FOR EACH APPLICATION

Vibrating conveyors are tailored for each application to deliver the best possible operational performance.

Guide fins in the trough bottom help to orient material so that short wood waste, for example, has a better chance of being chipped properly, improving chip quality. Infeed conveyors can be equipped with a capacity control that reacts to the chipper’s motor load.

MINIMAL MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS

Vibrating conveyors require very little maintenance. Their troughs are supported by springs that vibrate as a result of a crank shaft with single or multiple connecting rods. These steel or fiber-glass springs provide a long service life and low maintenance requirements. They also have flexible, tough attachments for smooth starts and stops.

The simple operation of these conveyors provides a smooth, leveled-out material distribution due to the vibrations. Material enters the conveyor and spreads evenly without high-impact forces.

Balanced and unbalanced designs are available, depending on cost and foundation requirements. A robust, concrete foundation or on-board counterweight balances the dynamic forces generated by the vibrating equipment.
